Essay 1-03a: An attraction of "Lilo & Stitch"

Disney has given us many hopes and dreams. Anybody must have been excited to that dreamlike world once at least. Magic and miracle that cannot be reality can happen in Disney animated movies. And those always include some moral. Therefore Disney world catches mind of children and adults. And "Lilo & Stitch" is a brand new story that is different from other ones a little. But this movie speaks to us important things. Then, what on earth is an attraction of this story?

First of all, Stitch is different from any other characters. Disney’s main characters are usually very nice. But Stitch is ferocious and bad. And he knows only destruction and doesn't have emotions because he is an alien that was created scientific. Therefore he is expelled to the earth. Was there such bad main character in Disney ever?

And Lilo and her older sister Nani had the problem. It was more realistic and serious than the problem other characters had. They had lived only by themselves because they lost their parents. But they nearly became separate though they were family. Lilo cannot blend right in with the other children, and was not in good with Nani.

Such solitary Stitch and solitary Lilo met. Stitch became Lilo's first friend. Lilo disciplines Stitch in order to be together. And the magic in this story is that Stitch who knew only destruction gets to have emotions. Lilo's selfless love changes Stitch which doesn't know love.

And another point is that is set in Hawaii. There is "Ohana" spirit there. Lilo says, “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind, or forgotten.” Hawaiian people consider that ohana is to trust each other, to allow each other, and to support each other. It is a word of magic that brings happiness.

There is Stitch which doesn’t know love, and there is Lilo who lost love. And they meet in Hawaii. This movie is filled of the factors that warm mind of people such as friendship and love of one's family. And loveable Stitch and pure Lilo always shake our mind. Perhaps, an attraction of this movie is that. In addition, in all Disney movies, this is a movie that contains realistic elements most, so it may have won the sympathy of many. “Lilo & Stitch” superbly fused fantasy and reality, and it is warm movie though strange. It may be tender movie that only Disney can create.
